Hi, I'm Ryan.

Hello again. This page is a slightly deeper introduction to who I am, what I'm interested in, and what has shaped the way I think.

I grew up in New York, both in the city and the suburbs about 45 minutes outside of it. I've always been a curious person and tend to get interested in a lot of different things, but two interests have stuck with me for a long time: building things and technology.

I first got into tech through gaming and building computers. When I was younger, my older cousin taught me how to build PCs, which quickly turned into me tinkering with my PlayStation and Xbox and modifying their internals. It wasn't until high school that I realized I could build things through software too. That opened up an entirely new world for me and made technology feel limitless. Eventually, that curiosity led me to study computer science.

In college, I started becoming really interested in startups. I was fascinated by the idea that a small group of smart, ambitious people could build something from scratch and have an outsized impact on the world. Even more than that, I was drawn to the kind of people who genuinely believed they could make that happen. The more I learned about startups and spent time around people building things, the more I knew it was an environment I wanted to be part of.

That brings me to where I am today. I'm especially excited by teams working at the frontier of what's possible, particularly in foundation models, applied AI, and infrastructure. I like being around people who are deeply curious, ambitious, and excited to build things that haven't existed before.

A note to students

I went into college curious about a lot of things, but without much guidance on how to actually get started, find opportunities, or find my footing in tech and in life more broadly. I learned a lot through trial and error, and I know how helpful it can be to have someone to ask.

This is from my recent trip to Puerto Rico. I try to go at least once a year, if not multiple times. I'm deeply connected to my Puerto Rican heritage, and I love being on the island as much as possible. There's something about being there that always feels like home.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend YC Startup School this year, and it was such a cool experience. I got to meet other founders, builders, and YC partners, and hear from some pretty cracked people. Being around so many ambitious and curious people was incredibly energizing.
This was my first time in SF by myself. I was fortunate enough to have a car, so after hosting a hackathon, I spent some time driving around the city and eventually ended up at the Golden Gate Bridge that night. There was a ton of traffic and so many people heading toward the bridge, but right as I pulled up, someone happened to be backing out of their parking spot. Perfect timing. I ended up spending almost two hours just sitting there, taking everything in and thinking. SF is such a beautiful city, and you can truly feel the energy when you're there.
This is from my recent graduation trip to Sardinia. A friend and I went on an intimate boat tour around La Maddalena, an archipelago off the coast of Sardinia. The views and beaches were breathtaking, but the best part of the experience was the people we met. We met some incredibly kind people from Spain and France, shared a meal together, and got to know one another throughout the day. They were genuinely some of the kindest people I've met. The two crew members on the boat were just as amazing and made the entire experience even more memorable.
